Well, I called up WDC today and asked them about the 65816's they've got. Well, here's the info I got: 65816-10 $104.?? 65816-8 $69.40 The lady I talked to said that replacing the processor and the oscillator is NOT the complete process. She wasn't sure what else there was, but she said that the people who do that have had problems. I mentioned adding faster RAM for the cache, and she seemed to think that was part of it. She said the next issue of InCider will have a detailed article about what to do. In addition, some of the engineers at WDC are thinking of making their own accelerator boards for the GS using their faster chips. I don't know anything about price, or when, she just said they were thinking about it. I'm debating going for the plunge and getting a TWGS and a new processor for it. Dunno if I will... Just thought some of you might want to know this stuff. Also, I called MDIdeas AGAIN, and got an answering service that takes all their calls AGAIN. I assume that if they are not out of buisness, then they're on the way. I mailed a letter to the address in my Supersonic manual, and it got bounced back via usnail with a note on it saying that their mail was being forwarded to another address, but that the forward had expired. I'll try sending it to the other address direct, but I'm not expecting a reply... -Greg T.
