X-VMS-Mail-To: APPLE I need a GOOD VT-100 emulator for a ][+; //e; //c - PD or otherwise - that can: 1) handle a variety of I/O cards (Super Serial, CCS 7710 a must) 2) does not require a slot outside of the communications card itself 3) supports both keypad and terminal-identification sequences Softterm 2 (Softronics) and PFS:Access (Personal Software) come to mind; I know of DCOM but never got it to work. Experiences and references appreciated. If you send your comments to me directly I will summarize for the net. Thanks to all ! Richard SECRIST%OAK.SAInet.MFEnet@LLL-MFE.Arpa

IF any of you know where I can get hold of a vt100 emulator via mail or ftp....that isn't overly encoded, as I have no shrink programs, I would appreciate it! Let me know via e-mail, Chuck

KERMIT for the Apple 2 (and other operating systems) does as credible a VT100 as is available. The files APP386.1 and APP386.2 from watsun.cc.columbia.edu via ftp are EXECable as is under DOS 3.3 (the 'B' file that's created can be copied to a ProDOS volume and will BRUN under BASIC.SYSTEM). Then you can use KERMIT to download BinSCII and ShrinkIT from BrownVM.Brown.Edu (cd to listserv.193 ;-) /s Murph <Sewall%UConnVM.BITNET@CUNYVM.CUNY.Edu> [Internet] or ...{psuvax1 or mcvax}!uconnvm.bitnet!sewall [UUCP] + Standard disclaimer applies ("The opinions expressed are my own" etc.)

>KERMIT for the Apple 2 (and other operating systems) does as credible a VT100 >as is available. Yes, I totally agree. When I work off my mainframe (at work) from home, I virtually need a VT100 terminal, and Kermit has allowed me to do that from home. It has all the keys I need (including those found at the numerical keypad portion of the VT100 Terminal for refresh screen, window up, window down, insert, pause, goto beginning/end of field, ...etc, true VT100 functions) which can't be found in ANY of the other communication programs I've seen that claims to support VT100 (or a subset thereof).
