Does anyone know of a BBS program that will WORK on a PC TRANSPORTER? -- Desius Paline = desius@clmqt.marquette.mi.us "Music is my Magic!" = bhunter@lopez.UUCP

I'd think any Messy-DOS BBS program would run on a PC Transporter. I know a lot of the MS-DOS boards around here use a program called "World War IV" (WWIV). I think WWIV is a freeware or shareware BBS system. You might cross- post to one of the IBM newsgroups and ask for a BBS program that would work on an XT-compatible (the PC Transporter is XT-compatible, if I read AE's ads right). From experience calling WWIV-based boards, it seems to be a fairly decent system that supports a considerable range of functions, including networking with other WWIV boards. For example, a sysop on a WWIV board here in Champaign said his system is networked to a board in Bloomington (Illinois, not Indiana) and two boards in Missouri. You might look into this system. May I ask why, though, are you looking for an MS-DOS-based board? Is it because you'd rather run it off the PC Transporter than the Apple that card is plugged into? I suppose it would sound interesting if you told the other MS-DOS users that you're running their programs and their BBSes on an Apple! It would be a bit demoralizing, wouldn't it? :-) Scott Alfter------------------------------------------------------------------- Internet: cs122aw@ux1.cso.uiuc.edu _/_ Apple IIe: the power to be your best! alfter@mrcnext.cso.uiuc.edu/ v \ saa33413@uxa.cso.uiuc.edu ( ( A keyboard--how quaint! I checked with some of the Messy-DOS boards around here. No answer on WWIV as those boards have been busy, but it would probably work. If it doesn't, then it's not a big loss since I think it's freeware or something like that. You might also look into PCBoard, ProDOOR, and TBBS for your PC Transporter. Also, just a little advice for the future when looking for advice regarding your Transporter. I can see why you posted to comp.sys.apple--after all, you are still using an Apple II. However, you probably would've gotten a faster answer out of comp.sys.ibm.pc. Tell 'em you have an XT clone if they don't know what a PC Transporter is.
