Wow, I've never seen Matt or anyone else react so strongly to us novice system fiddlers out here before! I did receive one request for a copy of my program; I had not yet sent him the binary and won't, I guess. The copy of PC Transporter software 2.0 that I ordered last wek just arrived. It was a bit difficult to install, and for awhile I was sure it wasn't going to work -- I kept getting the message "SCSI device needs SCSI driver; please install one" (or something like that). (I didn't know what to do: SCSIDH.Driver was doing just fine in my system folder.) This kept happening during the GS boot process. I actually don't know what sequence of events finally got it to go away -- I just barged ahead, re-configured the PCT, and eventually the error message went away. Anyway, since the version allows the 5.25 drive polling to be turned off, I no longer need my $C0D2 trick. (or whatever the address was...) I still would like to know, however, how one gets the PCT to automatically return control back to ProDos. (The MSDOS software that comes on 2.0 doesn't have anything with a name like EXIT.EXE or PRODOS.EXE or whatever.) Comment on PCT system software 2.0: other than the polling problem, I can't tell that it fixed any of my other problems: I still can't use an IBM floppy with the Transwarp at warp speed, and /RAMAEPC still gets wiped out by the second cat command in kermit. On the other hand, it does now allow you to have two (count them, two) harddrive PC volumes, up to 32M each. TMPLee@dockmaster.ncsc.mil
