Does anyone out there know anything about the Epic 2400 internal modem for the apple? I have one sitting around that doesn't quite work right and was wondering if anyone knew what might be wrong with it and/or how i could go about fixing it. the only problem with the modem is it won't pickup the phone to answer or originate. The dialing tones do come out the speaker and it will detect a ring. It will talk to any term program I care to load. I have it in slot 2 in a ROM 01 GS with 1.25 meg, Sonic Blaster in slot 1, SCSI card in slot 7. The control panel is set to 'your card' when trying to use the internal modem, but is currently set to modem port so as to use the 1200B modem hooked up to it. is this worth trying to fix or am i sitting here trying to bring the dead back to life? Any and all advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!! 96975089@wsuvm1.bitnet

I am using one to talk to you right now. I would be glad to look at it for you. Epic is no longer in business if I am not mistaken. I have worked on mine with some success. Maybe I can answer question or whatever. Email me. Eric

I'm having the strangest feeling, of deja-vu!

I had an Apple 300 baud modem with those symptoms which I finally traced to the amplifier chip which amplifies incoming and outgoing signals. I replaced the amp and it worked fine. Now my 1200 baud modem hhas the same symptoms, but this one works fine if I leave it unplugged from the phone line unless I'mm actually using it (like right now). -- Doug Reeder USENET: ...!tektronix!reed!reeder from ARPA: tektronix!reed!reeder@berkeley.EDU BITNET: reeder@reed.BITNET the Little Mermaid on materialism: I just don't see how a world that makes such wonderful things ... could be bad!
