[net.movies] Golden Turkey Awards' fake film

#ifdef BUG

Background: The Medved Bros. book, "The Golden Turkey Awards" is a book
dedicated to terrible movies. Golden Turkeys were awarded to various films
in various catagories (worst title, most badly bumbled bee movie, etc.)
The films ranged from famous to obscure to fake - one of the films mentioned
in the book was entirely concocted by the Medveds (as revealed by the footnote
on the back cover).

Foreground: I tried to figure out which film was the fake one. Observations:
1) eliminate any film I've heard of ("Exorcist II" to "Rat Fink a Boo Boo")
2) eliminate the winning film in each catagory (doesn't seem likely to be fake)

I thought I found it - "Matilda, the Boxing Kangaroo". This film had to be
fake. The still shown from the film was obviously a composite, it starred
some big names who should have known better (Elliot Gould (sp?) and Robert
Mitchum, if memory serves), and it didn't win, even though (in my opinion)
it was by far the worst in it's catagory. To top it off, the book mentions
how the film was never released because it was soooo bad (suspicious).
Well, I put the book away and forgot about the whole thing for a few months.
Then it turned up on the CBS late movie a couple of years ago...

Question: Does anyone know or think they know which film is the fake?
Please SEND me your guess(es) and reasons, and if anyone cares, I will
post a summary.
