                        TV MOVIES by Leonard Maltin
                            Signet, 1984, $4.95.
A book review by Mark R. Leeper

Leonard Maltin's TV MOVIES has gotten *many* unsolicited testimonials.
let me add mine. I live in a house full of books, but I reach for Maltin
more often than any other book in the house. (My wife keeps an old edition
in our car to settle film arguments on the road!) The new edition is over a
thousand pages long, and lists about 16,000 films, giving year, length, a
star rating, the director, the case, and a short description of the film,
all for $4.95. There is a similar book by Steven Scheuer called MOVIES ON
TV--same price, not as complete, and subjectively, the ratings don't seem as
accurate. It is also an often-used source, but I look in Maltin first.
Each book has a new edition every two years, Maltin coming out late in
even-numbered years, Scheuer late in odd-numbered years. The new edition is
available in bookstores now. It is worth the price.

P.S. I hope this book review posting doesn't offend anyone. :-)

I quite agree with Mark Leeper's recommendation of Maltin's "TV MOVIES".
I'd like to add two notes. First, the book contains both cinematic
movies and made-for-TV movies (and tells you which is which), so you
know when to watch out for made-for-TV remakes.

And second, it is available in two sizes. Both contain exactly the same
material, but the larger one is on bigger pages and probably in bigger print.
It's still paperback and costs slightly over twice as much. I bought the
large one, because I used my regular-size copy of the last edition so
much that it fell apart.
