They don't exist. The Proline sites aren't on the Internet. > Just what *is* cts.com anyway? Conveniently, you can send mail since they have MX record through CTS.COM which happily provides gateway service. > Ben Liblit > BRL102 @ psuvm.bitnet -- BRL102 @ psuvm.psu.edu > "Fais que tes reves soient plus longs que la nuit." Actually, take a look at your own .sig file. The .Bitnet address isn't a *real* address. It's a signal to intelligent mailers that you want to get a message to psuvm. So, if you're on an Internet site, it routes though a gateway like cunyvm.cuny.edu (there are 4 common ones). That's why addresses like psuvm.bitnet don't have an IP address either, even if they have domain-style names. Obviously, psuvm.psu.edu does have an MX record... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Todd A. Actually, ALL of cts.com is gateway'd through 'crash' on UUCP. The MX record points to trout.nosc.mil (an Internet host that forwards mail to 'crash'). >Obviously, psuvm.psu.edu does have an MX record... Not so obvious. psuvm.psu.edu is directly connected to the Internet (has an 'A' record) - psuvm.psu.edu A = 128.118.56.2, 128.118.84.2, 128.118.85.2, 128.118.101.2 It's also PSUVM on BITNET - which means it's its own gateway :-) Don't ask me why it needs FOUR IP numbers -- I only know what the nameserver tells me. /s Murph <Sewall%UConnVM.BITNET@CUNYVM.CUNY.Edu> [Internet] or ...{psuvax1 or mcvax}!uconnvm.bitnet!sewall [UUCP] + Standard disclaimer applies ("The opinions expressed are my own" etc.)
