Another update on the 45 meg removable hard drives:
1. In my last post I meant to say that the drive must have a cartridge in it
if you boot from another hard drive. It can be a locked cartridge but
it must be in the drive if the drive power is on or the system will hang.
2. The problem running ProDos 8 programs only appears when you boot from
a drive other than the removable. If you boot with the Syquest removable
things work OK. When you return from ProDos 8 to the finder a dialog box
pops up that says the file system is unrecognized and asks if you want to
format. Just click cancel and the removable drive icons grey out for a
sec then go back to normal.
3. Boot time with my ST251 hard drive is 60 secs, with the Syquest 50 sec.
4. If you power down the Syquest, or any SCSI drive in the chain, you
can boot normally with any other SCSI drive without pulling off cables.
