[comp.lang.misc] ANSI BASIC is now a standard.

andrew@hammer.UUCP (02/24/87)

On January 28, 1987, the ANSI Board of Standards Review formally
approved the draft for ANSI BASIC, making that BASIC a standard. It is
officially BASIC-87, standard number X3.113-1987.

The existing standard for "minimal ANSI BASIC", standard number
X3.60-1978, coexists as an (incompatible) ANSI standard. It is the
stated intention of the ANSI BASIC committee to withdrew that standard
now that "full BASIC" has been approved.

It will be several months before copies of the new standard become
available for purchase.
