This is a (very) brief news shot regarding Edinburgh Standard ML. I've mailed directly people I've accumulated into a mailing list, so firstly: if anybody wants to be on such a list, and haven't received any such posting, please let me know. Secondly: we'd be interested to find out a little about what's being done with ML at the various sites we've sent systems to - not for any administrative reasons, but just so that we can answer enquiries of the form "Is anybody using ML to do such-and-such?" or "Are any universities teaching ML for such-and-such a course?". This sort of feedback can also give us some perspective on how to develop future systems. We aren't after any great detail - a sentence or two is fine. We are particularly keen to receive some feedback on ML teaching: how much of the language (basics, core language, modules) is being presented to which classes of students (introductory CS, other subjects, graduates, etc.), and which, if any, course texts are being used - but any and all information would be welcomed. Feedback, please, to the address below. -- Nick Rothwell, Laboratory for Foundations of Computer Science, Edinburgh. nick%lfcs.ed.ac.uk@cs.ucl.ac.uk <Atlantic Ocean>!mcvax!ukc!lfcs!nick ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ "Nothing's forgotten.
