Does anyone have any information about the "SMP" language, which I think came out of Cal Tech around 1980? I believe it stood for "symbolic manipulation program", and was designed to do symbolic mathematical manipulations as well as calculations. Sort of an extended APL with a knowledge of the algebra of a large variety of special functions, and symbolic manipulation facilities. If you know something about it -- particularly (1) does it still exist (ie, is it actively used and supported), (2) how easy is it to use, and (3) if the answers to (1) and (2) are positive, how can I get it? -- I'd appreciate hearing about it. Thank you, -P. -- ******************************************************************************* Peter S.
