Does anyone know of any ALGOL-68 compilers that are implemented in C? Are any of these inexpensive? Are any of these portable to UNIX? I tried to learn ALGOL-68 years ago, but when our CDC computer's OS was upgraded, we couldn't get the thing to work anymore. No, we didn't have it under a maintaince contract: We were badly burned by CDC when we payed big bucks for a "life time" contract for a SIMULA-67 and an ALGOL-68 compiler only to have the branch of CDC from which we got these two packages drop their support and tell us we had to strike up a new contractual agreement with CDC Norway!! But all that is history now because as of December 31, 1988, CDC will be history on this campus! Daniel Pommert Computing Services Office University of Illinois daniel@uxh.cso.uiuc.edu
