[comp.lang.misc] Turing Grammar

dan@Apple.COM (Dan Allen) (01/10/89)

I am probably one of many that found the Dec ACM article on the Turing
language to be interesting. Are there any Turing Plus compilers
available for the Mac?

If the Turing people are listening, could they post the grammar for
Turing and Turing Plus?

At the current time, only the Turing interpreter runs on the Mac. It would
be trivial to move the Turing Plus interpreter to the Mac. The current
Turing Plus compiler is a multi-pass version, and I am currently developing
a one-pass 'turbo' Turing Plus compiler for 68000 based machines. That
would be the version of choice for the Mac.

I am hesitant to post the Turing and Turing Plus grammars to the net, because
of limited interest. I am willing to mail them to people who express an
interest.

I am the main Turing and Turing Plus developer, and I am willing to answer
technical questions about both. Availability information for both will
be posted in a day or two, when we can agree on the text of the announcement.
