[comp.lang.misc] Dynamic Storage Allocation on top of Paged, VM

I'm looking into dynamic storage allocation algorithms at the level of
application programs (vs. at the OS level in support of running such
application programs).  In particular, I'm looking into dynamic storage 
allocation algs that operate on top of paged, VM systems.   I found two
recent refs:
  
    1. Brent, "Efficient Implementation of the First-Fit Strategy for DSA", 
       Acm Trans On Prog. Langs. and Systems 11, 3 (July '89), 
    2. Bozman, etc., "Analysis of free-storage algorithms -- revisited", 
       IBM Systems J. 23, 1 (1984),

but no other references (and little earlier work).   

Can anyone point me to further references?  Thank you for your help.
