I was going to recommend this one, too. It's a great book and very popular. The actual title is "APL - An Interactive Approach" by Leonard Gilman and Allen Rose (John Wiley and Sons, 1976). Probably the best you can find if you want something readable. -- Alan Mazer (mazer@csvax.caltech.edu or cit-vax!elroy!alan)

In preparation for giving an APL course...Does any know if Wilbur R. LePage's "Applied APL Programming" is still in print? If not can anyone suggest a book which they have used that students have liked? It's been my experience that (apart from LePage's book) most APL texts are not well-received by the students. Thanks.

I don't know about LePage's book, but I suggest: For APL2--APL2 at a Glance; Brown, Pakin and Polivka, Prentice-Hall 1988 For APL*Plus--APL An Interactive Approach (3ed ed.), Gilman and Rose, John Wiley and Sons 1984. The latter has some specific APL*Plus stuff, but is OK for most APL's but APL2. Chuck Haspel
