The 7th annual APL as a Tool of Thought Professional Development Seminar will be given on Saturday, April 27th, 1991, at the Borough of Manhattan Community College in New York City. This all-day seminar explores how APL (A Programming Language) aids creative thinking and problem solving. Topics range from Recreational Computing to APL in the Classroom, from Statistics to Computational Origami. We have speakers from Bell Labs Optical Computing and American Express, from universities and high schools. The seminar covers long-time favorite topics such as Graphics as well as new "hot topics" such as Object-Oriented Programming. We venture from mundane, though sometimes difficult, problems of how to print APL to esoteric topics such as cryptography. Seminar participants will be able to attend as many as four of the talks. Lunch will be served on the premises. Also available will be printed proceedings of all submitted papers, APL development tools, APL interpreters and code (FREE!), and other information about APL. There are special prices for students, teachers, and members of the ACM and SIGAPL. For further information, write to: Tool of Thought VII -- NY/SIGAPL P.O. Box 138 or call (voice) (718) 773-4093, New York, NY 10185-0002 or (BBS) (212) 753-0888. The Borough of Manhattan Community College is at 199 Chambers Street in lower Manhattan, New York City, 10007. The sponsoring organization, the New York Special Interest Group on APL (NY/SIGAPL) is a non-profit, educational organization affiliated with the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
