[comp.lang.fortran] Fortran Lint

dgh%dgh@Sun.COM (David Hough) (03/03/88)

From time to time people ask for a LINT for FORTRAN.
I just got a blurb for such a product from IPT
called, believe it or not, FORTRAN-lint.
I don't know anything more about it than that.
If you want to know more, call John Dee at IPT,
(415) 494-7500.

I'm cross-posting to comp.lang.c in case anybody has
experience with another IPT product called lint-PLUS
for C.

There has been a tool with more accumulated experience (not quite
10 years) and it marketed by Softool of Goleta, CA. (805 area code).
There are at least 4-5 others, but I don't think the majority
run on Unix(tm). But then, I don't either language (`Si' inclusive)
is truly portable. Just easily ported.

From the Rock of Ages Home for Retired Hackers:

"You trust the `reply' command with all those different mailers out there?"
"Send mail, avoid follow-ups. If enough, I'll summarize."

Philosphical thought for the day:
Is Fortran as important as "sliced bread?"
If it is and Unix is the "Fortran of OSes" [Winter Usenix
1986], then is Unix as good as sliced bread? I think yes. ;-)
