[comp.lang.fortran] Fortran utilities sent to comp.sources.misc

silvert@dalcs.UUCP (Bill Silvert) (08/19/88)

I've just submitted a couple of utilities to comp.sources.misc to aid
in Fortran programming. One is an update to fxref, which generates
a cross-reference map of all variables, while the other, flink,
lists all the subprogram units with calls, unsatisfied externals,
and so on.

Some of you will be dismayed that we use upper case for Fortran, and
the utilities only work with upper case (you can change it if you
want -- I don't plan to).

The sources as distributed require lex(1), but not the lex library,
so you can run lex on one machine and then compile on any machine
with a C compiler. If you don't have access to lex, I can provide C
source, but it is much larger and probably not worth posting to a
newsgroup.

I find the programs useful but not bulletproof. They have been very
handy in organizing a large programming project with zillions of files.
