[comp.lang.fortran] IBM Professional/Microsoft/Ryan-MacFarland FORTRAN for IBM/PC

annala@neuro.usc.edu (A J Annala) (10/10/88)

I am a Ph.D. graduate student trying to adapt some neurological data analysis
programs originally written in FORTRAN (SUN BSD f77 compiler) to run on the
IBM PC. A few colleagues have offered to let me copy their FORTRAN compiler
and documentation for use in this project; however, I am unwilling to accept
this arrangement because it would be improper. Regrettably, my stipend as a
graduate student is not large enough for me to be able to afford to purchase
my own copy. As a result, I may have to abandon this conversion project.

I am curious about whether someone out there in net land might have upgraded
their installation of FORTRAN to a more recent version by buying an entirely
new set of disks and documentation ... and as a result might legitimately be
able to donate their old disks and documentation to the Psychology Department
at USC (a nonprofit education & research institution) for use in my project.
If so, I would be most grateful for your kind assistance. An acknowledgement
letter could be provided describing the value of the disks and documentation
to support the tax deduction for contribution to a charitable organization.

In any case, thank you for your kind consideration of my request.

Thanks again,
