You'll find this an excellent description of Fortran 8X.

Well, I got the book at the Rutgers library and found it to be
very complete and informative (not to mention VERY well written).
My only problem is knowing if the FORTRAN 8X in the book will be
the FORTRAN 8X approved by the committee.
