*** REPLACE THIS LINE WITH YOUR MESSAGE *** The recent flaming of an individual in this newsgroup for his posting concerning "A Passage to India" has brought to mind some points concerning USENET etiquette. I considered the message offensive, to say the least. At least two other users also considered the posting offensive. If three people are upset and post about it, there are probably ten more (at least) who did not post. Being offensive is definitely in violation of USENET etiquette. I respect that netter's right to voice his opinion, but I do not feel he was justified in some of the things he said. His obvious prejudice against Indians was embarrassing. His irresponsibility appalled me. He raved about the badness of he movie, but not once did he back up these opinions by stating exactly what he didn't like. I wondered: was it the presence of dark-skinned people that set him off? I think that that netter, who I shall not name, should apologize to others in net-laand, especially the Indian users who might have been offended at his ravings. Once things get settled, we can all go back to being polite. Tracy McInvale nmhr@nmtvax
