One of the features removed from the ANSI Fortran-8X draft between the last public review and the current draft is called "user-defined elemental functions". I have looked and looked at the old draft, and I cannot figure out exactly what is meant by this term. Could someone provide an example of a "user-defined elemental function" and explain how it differs from any other kind of function? -- John D.
