I have had a few requests to hold a symposium covering the new features of the proposed new Fortran standard on September 27 at Lake Tahoe the day before the Lahey 8x Implementation Symposium. The purpose would be to acquaint those who have not followed closely the development of the standard, but want to be better prepared for the implementation symposium that follows the next two days. Topics covered will be array processing, modules, procedure interfaces that may have significant impact on implementations, as well as things like source form and control structures that will have much less impact. Event: Fortran 8x Symposium Presenter: Dr. Walt Brainerd, Director, Technical Work, X3J3 Time: 1989 September 27, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Location: Hyatt Lake Tahoe Hotel, Incline Village, NV, 702/831-1111 Cost: $175 per person Registration: Send check with name, address, e-mail, etc. to Unicomp, Inc. 2002 Quail Run Dr. NE Albuquerque, NM 87122 brainerd@unm.cs.unm.edu If you want to attend, it is imperative that you let me know right away by sending me a check! E-mail notification that it is on the way would help. The hotel has reserved the meeting room only until August 23. They also are holding 10 rooms for the night of the 26th for people planning to attend the implementation symposium, but rooms are tight, so it is also important that you make or modify your hotel reservation immediately. I have tried to make the cost cover the meeting room, coffee etc., and my travel expenses to Lake Tahoe for both events, based on 8-10 participants. I hope that seems fair. -- Walt Brainerd Unicomp, Inc. brainerd@unmvax.cs.unm.edu 2002 Quail Run Dr. NE Albuquerque, NM 87122 505/275-0800
