[net.movies] LADYHAWK - a question

nancyh@tekecs.UUCP (Nancy Hill) (04/24/85)

We went and saw LADYHAWK the other night and rather
enjoyed it. However, all of the main characters we
recognized except for Rutgar Hauer (I hope I'm spelling
his name right). He played the old captain of the guard
Etienne Navarre.

Does anyone out there know anything about him. I've
never seen him before (at least as far as I remember).

Thanks,

Nancy Hill

Correct me (but don't flame me) if I'm
wrong, but didn't Rutger Hauer (sp?) play
one of the androids in Blade Runner?

His great claim to fame (and probably his best role ever) is the
leader of the "Replicants" in "Blade Runner" who come back to earth to
try and find out if they can live longer than four years. He's also made a
couple of real bombs, most notably "The Osterman Weekend" which was a
really terrible film, but that was due to the plot, and not the acting.

Rutger Hauer's most notable role in my recollection was as the
leader of the replicants in "Blade Runner." (My favourite SF
movie.)

Yes, to answer another question on the net, Hauer did play the android
in "Bladerunner". I've also seen him Paul Verhouven's (sp) "Soldier of
Orange" and "Spetters", Dutch films, of course. He's also been in some
other American made films, but I never saw them so I don't remember what
they were.

Someone asked about movies that Rutgr Hauer has been in.
Before he appeared in American movies (Bladerunner,
Nighthawks, etc.), he acted in Dutch films. Two that
I have seen are 'A SOLDIER OF ORANGE', in which he
stars as a leader of the resistance during WWII, and
"SPETTERS', where he has a small role as a motocross
racer.
