I have just read many comments in regards to Allison (the weirdo) in Breakfast Club.. They all seem to be saying that she conforms in the end by allowing herself to be "made-up" by Claire. I disagree.. Her character was NOT that of a unique individual, but that of a washed out loser. She wasn't different because she wanted to be, but because she had family troubles. The make-over by Claire signified to me (and others my age (20) who seen the movie with me) that Allison overcame whatever it was that was troubling her. She went from a rather depressing looking loner character to that of a pretty girl who had normal desires (i.e. dating etc...) To see this as a bad ending, must mean that Allsion became something she didn't want to be. But, such was not the case. What Claire did, as a friend, was to make Allison not-ugly, her intent WASN'T meant to turn Allison into beauty queen, but, just a person....( who happened to look rather nice) As you can see, I was happy that Allison became whole.
