[comp.lang.fortran] appending integer variables to char strings

Hi,

I am interesting in appending an integer (stored as an array) to the end of
a character string.  The resulting string should be character.  Is there any
standard way of doing this in fortran 77.  Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
