[comp.lang.fortran] IBM 386 compilers & memory limits

burkley@cod.NOSC.MIL (V. J. Burkley) (10/10/90)

I have recently been granted access to an IBM 386 clone with
a ton o memory. I also have access to Lahey and Microsoft
PC-AT Fortran compilers. My desire is to port some code that I have
running on workstations to the PC. I know the compilers will work
on the PC if I stay under the 640K limit. What I want to know is
if there is any way I can have access to all the memory above 640K
while still using my older compilers. I have seen some compilers that
run specifically on the 386 with a DOS extender so I am wondering if
a DOS extender is all I need? Thanks a bunch.
