[comp.lang.fortran] rounding to a real number, revisited

u714092@eagle.larc.nasa.gov (prichard devon ) (11/02/90)

well, I've gotten plenty of responses so far. I have enough to keep me
busy for awhile. I imagine my question otta go on the FAQ list for c.l.f.
if it exists. many thanx to all responders.

also, many sharp-eyed readers caught my goof in rounding to -1.4 instead
of -1.5; "I'm not an idiot, but I play one on Usenet." just when you think
noone's paying attention...

most of the responses used some form of INT, with appropriately chosen
fudges added to the number in question before truncating.

oddly enough, I got several responses from Oztralia; two from Canada.one
from UBC (which, of course, stands for University with a Beautiful Campus).
and of course, the usual contingent of uncle_sam.mil sites. I wonder what
the demographics of Fortran users is, relative to other programming languages?
