We are in the middle of the public review for Fortran Extended
which ends December 18. Has anyone purchased the new DRAFT
(I think the most expensive yet) and examined its contents?
What are people's feeling toward this yet another review?
Is the $71 dollars plus the time and effort to examine this
new document a good investment? Is the document available
elsewhere besides GLOBAL ENGINEERING DOCUMENTS?
please reply to comp.lang.fortran since I'm sure there are others
with similar questions and concerns.
thanx in advance,
>>> Jim McDowell.

My feeling is that whole process is silly. They need to just get it done. At this point it is particularly dumb since ISO has adopted a Fortran 90 standard (the ANSI one will be a second standard for the US and that is something we can ill afford in the US, particularly since software patents and other legal hurdles are already threatening the vitality of the US computer industry).
