I can't program in C so I will not enter the C vs Fortran 77 debate. I was just wondering if a C to Fortan translator/compiler (c2f) was possible. If not why not ? Fortran lacks pointers but I thought someone suggest a method of getting round this problem. I not trying to undermine C by suggesting it should be converted to Fortran, but wouldn't the reverse of f2c help to break down the barriers between exculsive C or Fortran users. Paul Burney

Many Fortran's have been extended to allow the "problematic" bits of C
to be handled (pointers, structures, etc.). The folks at Kuck and
Associates have mumbled that "it would be a short putt" to provide
such a tool, based on their current C and FORTRAN tools.
