[comp.lang.fortran] F77 Intrinsic Functions

beamishd@ccvax.ucd.ie (10/19/90)

Thanks to all those who replied to my post. The responses I got summed up like
this :-
   1) There are no bit manipulation functions defined in Fortran 77
   2) There are some functions defined in a US military standard which most
halfway decent complilers seem to have. These are
IAND IOR IEOR INOT ISHFT BTEST IBSET IBCLR
   3) This US-Mil standard is going to be incorporated into Fortran 90

Noting the traffic concerning intrinsic functions, I
suggest that those interested refer to the ANSI spec
for F77. You can also find the same intrinsic functions
listed and defined in APPENDIX C of
Software Design Using FORTRAN 77
