Fourth Fortran 90 Implementation Workshop April 4 - 5, 1991 Fortran 90 will (probably/hopefully) be an official ANSI and ISO standard within the year. In anticipation of this, a number of interested persons have met to discuss compiler implementation issues related to Fortran 90. These meetings are quite informal. The attendees to these meetings have tended to be individuals who are in the process of developing a Fortran 90 compiler, who plan on developing a Fortran 90 compiler or who have an active interest in the implementation of features in Fortran 90. If you fit any of these categories, and think you could contribute to and benefit from this type of meeting you should plan on attending this two day workshop. If you have topics that are pertinent and feel that they should have agenda time, send them to one of the hosts. The agenda for this meeting is: Implementation Symposium Agenda (Subject to Minor Changes) Time Topic Thursday, April 4, 1991 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7:00 Continental Breakfast 8:00 Welcome and Open Business 8:15 Array constructors problem 9:45 Break 10:00 Fortran 90 i/o Possible impacts to existing FORTRAN 77 implementations 11:30 Lunch 1:00 New Fortran 90 intrinsics Pitfalls, efficiency of implementation, etc. 2:45 Break 3:00 Extensions that may be common across implementations *Conditional Compilation : Merits, demerrits, pitfalls, etc 4:45 Wrap up ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Time Topic Friday, April 5, 1991 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7:00 Continental Breakfast 8:00 Welcome and Open Business 8:15 Extensions continued *Integration of VAX extensions - which ones, how, etc 9:45 Break 10:00 Extensions continued *Cray POINTERS, how, impact *Compiler Directives, common spelling, format, etc 11:30 Lunch 1:00 Miscellaneous NITS (Nasty Idiosyncracies That Surface) *Module and Include search path considerations *Implicit, implicit none, implicit *(*) *Character case values *KIND numbers discussion and resolution (?) *Others (send NITS you want brought up to sml@cray.com so they can be put on the agenda and/or bring them to the meeting) 2:45 Break 3:00 Review status of previous issues: This consists of issues raised via email and in previous workshops. Transportation is available from the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport every 1/2 hour via Minneapolis Suburban Airport Limousine Service. This company does not take reservations and is located outside the baggage claim area. If you rent a car, the drive to the hotel from the airport is roughly 12 miles. When leaving the airport follow the signs for West on Interstate 494. Proceed west on 494 until interstate 35W. Go North on 35W. When approaching downtown Minneapolis, follow the signs for the 11th Street exit. Take 11th Street to 2nd Avenue (it eventually turns into Grant Street). Continue past the Convention Center. Turn right at Nicollet Avenue. The hotel is immediately on the left (if you go too far, you'll end up on the Nicollet Mall with the pedestrians and buses!), on the corner of Grant and Nicollet. Parking is available in the attached Loring Municipal Parking Ramp. Climate: Minneapolis in April can be warm, pleasant and sunny (daytime 45-55 degrees Fahrenheit, evenings low of 30) OR it can be cold, windy, raining/snowing (daytime 30-40, evenings low of 15). The hotel is located in downtown Minneapolis. Thus, many eating and entertainment places can be reached by walking short distances or in short cab or bus rides.
