[comp.lang.fortran] 386s and the 640K DOS barrier

dlindsle@afit.af.mil (David T. Lindsley) (06/17/91)

OK, there's been a lot of replies, all addressing only part of my
posting/question. So let's bite the bullet.

Has anybody out there gotten a program to run which fits the following
description:
 1. written in Fortran
 2. requires > 640K;
    specifically, may have single chunks of data (arrays) > 640K or 1M
 3. runs under DOS
 4. 2,3 => uses PharLap DOS extender
 5. 2 => runs in 386 (preferably protected) mode
 6. 5 => compiled under (obviously) a 386-specific compiler,
    or at least a compiler with an option to generate 386 code
    (preferably Watcom's)

Or has anybody come up with an alternative strategy to get this to work?
e.g. gotten Windows (3.0) to do the paging?

Replies by Email, please.  Thanks.
