I've been given the job of rehosting some Fortran IV from Ga. Techs CDC Cyber 830 running NOS 2.6.1 to our Sequent S81 running Dynix 3.1.17. I've run into a problem with the type of files it used. In the old code, there are calls to OPENMS, READMS and WRITEMS. As I am told these are for random access files. I have no manuals for the mainframe so I've got a few questions. 1. Are these random access files like direct access but with variable record lengths? If not, what are they? 2. Is there a library I could get for the Sequent to do the same thing? Where? How much? 3. Is there a translator for free somewhere so that my position might be eliminated? Where? Even a nudge in the right direction would be nice. I'm obviously not a fortran expert so any help is greatly appreciated. thanks, in advance, paul (gt0066b@prism.gatech.edu) -- DUGAS,PAUL AVERY Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta Georgia, 30332 uucp: ...!{decvax,hplabs,ncar,purdue,rutgers}!gatech!prism!gt0066b Internet: gt0066b@prism.gatech.edu
