We're involved in trying to come up with some efficient code in C to do unification (actually a subset of full-blown unification) for a natural language parser, and we've wondered more than once if we might benefit from some good descriptions of Prolog compilation techniques (looking at compiling a unification-based grammar). Clearly some of the big boys in this game aren't about to share their secrets because they're commercial enterprises: but can anybody provide me with some useful references that are also generally available?
