More info pertaining to AAIS Prolog: it is an interpreter, but from the brochure, "...interactive compiler; all input is immediately and quickly compiled into a compact internal format for fast execution, yet still allowing full debugging capabilities" and "rules and facts are stored via indexing and hashing providing efficient retrieval" You be the judge... The other, truly compiled, Prolog of high repute is LPA MacProlog ( the "Wizard Edition" - list price $495?, but can be gotten for $325 here in U.S., although not likely from the US distributor: Programming Logic Systems 31 Crescent Drive Milford, Connecticut 06460 (203)877-7988 It originates, I believe, from England: LPA == Logic Programming Assoc (??). AAIS' phone (415)948-8658. This is about all I know, except that both are highly thought of. (Am sending this also in reply, as being new to the mail system, the original reply was ate). -- Frank Malczewski
