[comp.lang.prolog] Prolog and Object-Orientation

wfc@cl.cam.ac.uk (William Clocksin on jenny) (04/26/89)

Prolog was not intended to be an object-oriented language. The first
sentence of C&M uses the word "object", but in preference to a word
like "thing". Remember it was written before the term "object-oriented"
came into common use, and there was no way to predict whether this
might cause confusion in the future. Given that the remainder of the
book does not mention any of the concepts used by the object-oriented
languages, it would be very surprising indeed if anyone were to be misled
by the use of the word "object" in the first sentence.
