[net.movies] SEATTLE FILM FESTIVAL REVIEW: Frankenweenie

moriarty@fluke.UUCP (Jeff Meyer) (06/21/85)

Well, one last thing: saw a really wonderful short at the Festival
this year named "Frankenweenie", by the same people who
brought you "Vincent" last year. This is a Disney short, and will be
shown with _My_Science_Project_ later this year. It stars Shelly
Duvall and Daniel Stern as the parents of a son who decides to
mock the forces of nature and bring his dead dog back to life. A
fantastic lampoon of the original James Whale _Frankenstein_
movie, not to mention all those "boy and his dog" films Disney used
to make. I recommend you see this, as it is just hysterical -- the
sets, the dialogue, the satirizing of the original. It strikes me that,
with "Frankenweenie", _My_Science_Project_, _Return_To_Oz_ and
_The_Black_Cauldron_, this may be the year Disney returns to
prominence, perhaps (let us hope) even excellence.
"Frankenweenie", to my mind, is a very good omen.

"I can give you my word, but I know what it's worth and you don't."
