[comp.lang.prolog] Comments wanted on SICStus

kirshenb@hplabsb.HP.COM (Evan Kirshenbaum) (07/27/89)

Does anybody have any experience running SICStus prolog under HP-UX? I am
thinking about obtaining a copy to do some prototyping on a 9000/360
running 6.5. The announcement I saw says that it is "marginally sysV", and
the license agreement implies that they give no installation support.

Does it actually run under HP-UX? How much trouble is it to get up and
running? Is it worth it?

And of course, is there anything I should use instead? Speed is not all
that critical, but I don't think I can afford to run interpreted. I could
use a good library and debugger. Foreign function calls will probably be
necessary (calling in, too, if possible). Hooks into X11 would be really
nice (I heard a rumor about a public domain program out of UCLA).

Any pointers will be appreciated.

I have responded to the base note author by phone. For those of you on the
net with HP systems, please be advised that there will be several announcements
made regarding the availability of Prolog on HP platforms at IJCAI.

Does anyone out there know anything about SD Prolog?

I need to ask someone a couple of questions but am having great
difficulty contacting the appropriate people: The guy at the SD organaisation
is away on holiday for three weeks, and the alternative contact name they
gave me at Quintec is off ill.

Thanks, Steve.
