Announcement: Workshop on Future Directions in Parallel Execution of Logic Programs at NACLP '89, Oct. 20, Cleaveland. I am organizing a half day workshop on parallel execution of Logic programming at the upcoming NACLP '89, to take place on the workshop day - Friday, Oct. 20th, 1989. I am enclosing a brief description of the workshop below. The basic idea is to have each of the research groups working on parallel execution of Logic programs give a brief presentation with the status of their project, plans for immediate future, and most important, state what they think are important research problems for the future. This will be followed by an open discussion. Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions regarding the workshop, etc. Hope to see you at NACLP'89. Sanjay (L.V.) Springfield Ave., Urbana, IL-61801 kale@cs.uiuc.edu, (217) 244-0094 Past few years have seen significant developments in the field of Parallel Execution of Logic Programs. Many proposed schemes have been implemented on real multi-processors, performance-related issues have been faced, new models as well as extensions to existing models have been proposed, designed and implemented. It is time to try to peek into a crystal ball to see what lies in future. This meeting will bring together researchers in this field with that objective. Each researcher/group representative will describe where there projects are heading for the next few years, and what they think are significant issues for the field. These presentations will be preceded by a brief status-report from each project, and followed by a discussion of issues. The presentations will be "by invitation only", although the anyone may participate in the discussions. Also, anyone who would like to be invited for a presentation should inform L.V. Kale (kale@cs.uiuc.edu, 217-244-0094).
