[comp.lang.prolog] ISO committee

bimbart@kulcs.uucp (Bart Demoen) (07/02/90)

taken from a contribution by Richard A. O'Keefe (either
<3319@goanna.cs.rmit.oz.au> or <3330@goanna.cs.rmit.oz.au>) :

> The ISO committee decided that they didn't _want_ me to be involved in
> the construction of a standard.

This is perhaps a bit misleading.
The ISO committee was not asked to vote about Richard becoming involved in the
construction of a standard. It was asked to vote - unanimously - to appoint
him a project editor. The current project editors have not been
appointed by the ISO committee: such a thing is not the responsibility
or the task of the ISO committee. Neither is it the task of the ISO committee
to decide whether it likes a particular person in the committee or not.

If recognizable as such, contributions from Richard should be taken into account
by ISO.
If he comes himself to the meetings to defend his point, I am sure that the
committee will welcome him - most probably unanimously.
