While watching COCOON recently, it occured to me that I had heard this story somewhere before. I seem to recall hearing something in the news several years ago about a group of people who disappeared into a desert. They left behind notes saying that they were going to be picked up by aliens who were going to take them to their world. I can't remember the full details, but the situation seems remarkably similar to that presented in COCOON (of course this may just be a coincidence). Chris Andersen
