I just finished my first listening of "Difford & Tillbrook". It's much more like Squeeze than I thought it would be, but It leans a little more towards 'pop' than I would like. I really liked "Sweets From a Stranger" and "Annie Get Your Gun", and I was happy that there was at least one group that I liked that was (a) still together (b) still alive (c) producing new records that I enjoyed. Does anyone have any good info on why they split up Squeeze? Did they just want to dump the name? The only other original person in the group was the drummer, and the keyboard player was new on the last album. The new album has a new drummer, bassist, and Tillson plays keyboards. Several numbers use strings and horns (arranged by the producer Tony Visconti). The cover is strange: It shows both of them wearing large, furry coats, the sleeve has photo's and words. I'm glad they're still writing songs together, and I'm sure that I'll like the record more in a while, but just now I wish there was still a Squeeze. --- Phil Budne ...decvax!decwrl!mrfort!budne (usenet) Budne%MRFORT.DEC@DECWRL.ARPA (ARPAnet) MONTY::MRFORT::BUDNE (ENet) -------
