It occurs to me that all the examples of Prolog systems I'm familiar with are research projects. Does anybody have good examples of applications written in Prolog which are doing useful work in the real world? Brief email descriptions are fine. I'll be happy to post a summary of there's interest. Thanks. -- Glenn | holliday@csgrad.cs.vt.edu OR Holliday | GHOLLID@access.nswc.navy.mil

Another one to add to your list; We at Hewlett Packard labs, Bristol, have worked on an expert system project jointly with an HP division in the USA. It tests and diagnoses printed circuit boards during manufacture, by interfacing directly with a Hewlett-Packard proprietary test system. It was written in Quintus prolog and 'C'. It has been successfully deployed at 3 sites within HP, and has been in routine use for over a year. It has also been used to drive further research in model-based diagnosis. If you want further details, one of the project will present the paper 'Agatha: An integrated Expert System to Test and Diagnose Complex PC Boards' - Allred, Lichenstein, Preist, Bennett, Gupta at Innovative Applications of AI this year. If you want a copy of the paper before then, please feel free to email me. Chris Preist Hewlett-Packard labs, Bristol cwp@otter.hpl.hp.com cwp@hplb.hpl.hp.com
