                     Call For Participation
               ICLP'91 Pre-Conference Workshop on
          Merging Object-Oriented and Logic Programming
                         Paris (France),
                      Monday June 24, 1991

The workshop will address fundamental issues in attemps to in-
tegrate the two paradigms of Object-Oriented and Logic program-
ming: semantics, logical models of object communication, con-
currency, knowledge sharing, conflict resolution... It will be
the occasion to make a review of existing systems, their basic
concepts and terminology, and their relations. Examples of exist-
ing models, realisations and implementations are welcome to il-
lustrate the discussions.

The workshop will last one day before the ICLP conference and
will be essentially based on discussions, led by a panel composed
of researchers from both LP and OOP areas. It will start with a
presentation by H. Ait-Kaci (DEC Paris Research Lab). We expect
around 20 participants. Each participant is invited to send a
position paper (around 1-2 pages; an electronic version is pre-
ferred). These papers will be gathered and distributed to all
the participants, before the workshop, as the basis for the dis-
cussions. The participants may also, if they wish, make a short
(less than 15 min) communication on a specific topic (please no-
tify if you are interested and send an abstract of a few lines,
besides the position paper; the number of talks will be limited
to devote as much time as possible to the discussions). Demos can
also be organized and are welcome (please notify if you want to
present one).
