recent BAA for the STARS Foundation Ada Software.  For complete text,

A - FOUNDATION ADA SOFTWARE FOR RESEARCH IN VIRTUAL INTERFACES: BROAD
AGENCY ANNOUNCEMENT (BAA). The govt desires firm-fixed price R&D
contrs, but reserves the right to negotiate a different type of contr.
The DOD Software Technology for Adaptable, Reliable Systems (STARS)
Pgm in co-operation w/the Naval Research Lab (NRL) is soliciting
proposals for the development of reusable Ada (DOD trademark) software
modules with which common foundation area capabilities can be composed
in a form suitable for follow-on research and experimentation in the
development and application of the virtual func interfaces needed to
foster and support a truly machine-independent applications software
technology.  The goal is provide Ada bldg block components for several
foundation areas including, but not ltd to: Ada as a common command
language, software design, description and analysis tools (including
those necessary to support reliability and multilevel security
properties), text processing, database mgmt systems, operating systems
(including tailorable Ada run time support for embedded and trusted
applications), planning and optimization algorithms, graphics,
telecommunications and network protocols, or other (consistent w/STARS
pgm objectives for virtual interface support and machine independent
applications).

The closing date for submission of proposals is 90 days after publ of
this announcement; recepts after that date will not be evaluated.
