From: NAME: P. S. TUFFS FUNC: PCCT (16) TEL: (412) 337 2946 <TUFFS1 AT A1 AT VAXID1> We are in the process of transferring software from the VAX Ada environment to an ALSYS IBM-PC/AT based compiler, and have run into a problem in figuring out how to drive the Enhanced Graphic Adapter (EGA) Card from Ada. We are considering trying to use Micro-Soft windows with the ALSYS compiler, to save on developing a whole load of redundant graphics and window management code. Does anyone have experience with this on the PC?. Also, recently I read about X-windows on this bulletin board: are there any Ada versions of X-windows available, or is there a version for the IBM-PC under MS-DOS that might be usable from Ada? Alternatively, a GKS package callable from Ada would solve the problem. Having picked an Internationally standardized language to program in, we'd like to avoid making the code machine dependent by other means. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please reply to the CSNET address: TUFFS@ALCOA.COM Thanks in advance, Simon Tuffs.
