"ADA: THE STATE OF THE TECHNOLOGY"

This conference will focus on Ada as a vehicle for today's complex software
engineering efforts, such as software development for the NASA Space
Station, the FAA Advanced Automation System and Advanced DOD systems. With
the Ada language standard scheduled for its first review in 1988, this is
the time to take a hard look at the current state of Ada-related experience
and research and to map out future directions. Contributions are encouraged
on practical experiences of the benefits (and limitations) of using Ada, as
well as research into technology to support software development today and
into the future. Topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

STATE OF THE PRACTICE: Techniques used today in Ada applications and the
lessons learned from these efforts.

-- Productivity: Hard data from real-world experience
-- Applications: Government, Industry, Commercial, Embedded systems
-- Project management: Organization, Estimation, Metrics
-- Compiler technology: Validation, optimization, tasking
 -- Education and training
 -- Reliability and portability

STATE OF THE ART: Powerful methods for engineering with Ada today and into
the future.

 -- Methodologies: Object-oriented, Process-oriented, Automated
-- Language Issues: LRM updates, Ada as a notation
-- Reusability: Building a reusable component industry
-- Support Environments: Development, APSE, CAIS, Run-time system
 -- Distributed Systems: Tasking, Interoperability
 -- Ada and Artificial Intelligence
