I don't know about the rest of you, but after hearing the Furs' new album, "Mirror Moves", I was amazed. They really have come on as of late, and, thank God it wasn't because of MTV! -- Kip Quackenbush pthya!kdq {ihnp4,ucbvax,cbosgd,decwrl,amd70,fortune,zehntel}!dual!pthya!kdq Pacific Bell, San Francisco, California

I don't know about the rest of you, but after reading the recently posted mini-review of the new P-Furs album, I was amazed. 'Mirror Moves' appeals to me as a warmed over attempt to recreate the previous Furs release 'Forever Now.' That, in turn, was a far cry from the success of their first two LPs. Both 'Forever Now' and 'Mirror Moves' seem to me to show the P-Furs moving directly towards the MTV sound--and away from what made them so interesting in the first place. My recommendation is that you go look for the first two P-Furs albums--which I think have both been "Nice Priced" at $4.99. (Question: Is $4.99 a nicer price for the record companies that the previous $3.99 Nice Price?) From the Cableless Home of ... uw-june!eli

I've been listening to the furs for good while and yes, the trend towards a more accessable sound started with their choice of T. Rundgren as producer for Forever Now. I think that its more than coincidence that Rundgren appears as producer on so many albums where groups decided to 'cross over' markets. Examples: Patti Smith-Waves album, Tubes-Remote Control just to name a few. Its no use crying over commercialized bands but if wishes could kill.... -- ...[rlgvax | decvax | ucbvax!allegra]!rochester!ritcv!ccivax!abh "From the ever cycling epicenter of Rochester...."
